The chart most of us grew up with was put together in the nineties by a celebrity stylist sorting his clients. It was a visual shorthand, and it handed one label to a whole head of hair. Anyone with curls knows that is not how hair works. Your crown and your nape rarely agree, and most families have more than one pattern under one roof. Other systems added more dimensions decades ago, which tells you one letter was never enough. A lab could tell you more, but nobody has time to mail off a freshly washed strand and wait.
Real hair care lives somewhere between a one-letter chart and a laboratory. That is the gap we built the analyzer to fill: a proper look at your whole head, from three photos, standing at your own bathroom mirror.

Your whole head, not one strand
A lab looks at a single strand. A quiz hands one label to your entire head. We read all of it, because your crown and your nape rarely agree, and neither do two kids in the same family.
Honest when we are not sure
When a read is not confident, we mark it with a ~ rather than pretend otherwise. And what a photo simply cannot show, like how your hair holds moisture, we ask you about instead of guessing.
Guided by real families
Our reference photos come from families who said yes, never scraped from the internet. And when you tell us a read was off, that correction goes straight into making the next version better.
HONEST LIMITS
Where we draw the line
A curl analysis from three photos is a genuinely useful thing. It is not a laboratory. Here is exactly what that means.
These are estimates, not measurements
A photo shows shape clearly. It cannot measure a strand with a micrometer or count strands per square centimeter. Read your signature the way you would read an experienced stylist's eye, not a lab report.
Shape reads best. Thickness reads hardest
Curl form is the most photo-visible trait, so it is our most confident read. Strand thickness is the least, because lighting and flash distort it. When we are not confident, we mark it with a ~ instead of pretending.
Porosity we ask, because we cannot see it
How your hair absorbs and holds moisture is a real property and genuinely invisible in a photograph. So we ask you two quick questions rather than guess at it.
The numbers are calculated, not invented
Your moisture and tangle figures are not the AI picking a number it likes. They are computed from your signature with a fixed formula, so the same hair always gets the same result, and different hair spreads across the range.
We make no medical claims
This is cosmetic guidance for styling your hair. It is not a scalp or skin health assessment, and it is not a substitute for advice from a dermatologist.
Curl pattern itself is well-established science: the shape of the follicle and the way keratin is distributed through the fiber are what make a curl curl. That part is not our invention. The framework we built on top of it is.
