Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: what you give us, what our tools record automatically, and what we receive from the services that help us run the shop, like our payment processors.

Information you give us

• Contact details. Your name and email address when you save your Curl Signature results, join our newsletter or Curl Forecast, place an order, or get in touch. If you contact us about wholesale or salon partnerships, we also keep your business details.
• Hair photos. The photos you take or upload in the Hair Analyzer. Section 3 explains exactly how they are handled.
• Hair details. Your answers in the analyzer, such as the porosity questions, your biggest wash-day struggle, and whether the scan is for your own hair or your child's.
• Your ZIP code. If you sign up for Curl Forecast.
• Order information. Your name, email, shipping and billing address, and what you bought. Your card details go straight to our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
• Messages. Emails, replies to our emails, and anything else you choose to send us.

Information collected automatically

• Usage and device information. Pages you visit, what you tap or click, how you move through the site and the Hair Analyzer, your browser and device type, and a general location (like your city) based on your IP address. This comes from Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and the Meta Pixel, described in Section 6.
• Scan logs. When you run a scan, our server records your IP address, browser type, and a short one-way fingerprint of your photos so we can spot automated abuse. The fingerprint cannot be turned back into a picture.
• Email activity. Whether our emails are opened and which links are clicked, through our email platform, Brevo.
• Cookies. Small files that keep your shopping cart working and power the tools above.

2. How we use your information

• Analyze your photos and create your Curl Signature, routine, and product match.
• Email you your results, order confirmations, and shipping updates.
• If you opt in, send our newsletter and Curl Forecast weather tips for your area.
• Take payment, calculate sales tax, ship your order, and handle returns.
• Answer your questions and help with orders.
• Learn how people use our site and analyzer so we can make them better.
• Measure our ads and show them to people who have visited our site.
• Prevent fraud, spam, and automated abuse.
• Keep business records and meet tax, accounting, and other legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we never use your hair photos for anything other than creating your own results.

3. The Hair Analyzer and your photos

The Hair Analyzer is the most personal part of our site, so here is exactly what happens to your photos:

1. Your photos travel over an encrypted connection from your browser to our server.
2. Our server sends them to Anthropic, whose Claude AI model reads your curl pattern, texture, and density.
3. Your result (your Curl Signature, hair metrics, routine, and product match) comes back to you on screen, and by email if you choose to save it.
4. The photos are processed in memory and are not saved. We keep your result, never the pictures that produced it.

4. Children's privacy

Our site is meant for adults. The Hair Analyzer includes a “My child's hair” option so parents and guardians can scan their child's curls. When you use it, you take the photos and give us your own name and email, not your child's.

Photos of children are handled exactly like every other photo: analyzed in real time and never stored. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email hello@justsocurly.com and we will delete it.

5. Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that help us run Just So Curly, and only what each one needs to do its job. We don't sell, rent, or trade your information to data brokers.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business. If that happens, we'll tell you before your information falls under a different policy.

6. Cookies, analytics, and advertising

We use these tools to understand how our site is used and to measure our advertising:

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features, like the shopping cart, may not work without them. These tools may collect information about your activity over time and across other websites. Our site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

Some state privacy laws treat advertising tools like the Meta Pixel as “selling” or “sharing” personal information. To opt out, use the settings above or email hello@justsocurly.com with the subject “Do not sell or share,” and we will honor it for the information we hold about you.

7. Emails and Curl Forecast

When you save your Curl Signature, we email your results followed by a short series of care tips. If you join our newsletter, you'll hear about curl care, new products, and pop-up events.

When you sign up for Curl Forecast, we keep your email, ZIP code, the approximate center point of that ZIP (not your street address), and your hair profile. We check the weather for that area so we can send tips on the days your curls need them.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing doesn't stop emails about an order you've placed.

8. Payments and orders

Orders in our online store go through Webflow's checkout, and purchases made inside the Hair Analyzer go through Stripe Checkout. Both are paid through Stripe, so your card number goes directly to Stripe. We never receive or store it.

We receive your name, email, shipping and billing address, and order details so we can ship your order, calculate and pay sales tax, and help if something goes wrong. Read Stripe's Privacy Policy to learn how Stripe handles payment information.
